L’Ogre Bleu 2020 by Takahata is a Merlot from Yamagata. Small, fully ripe berries were selected for this vintage. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matured for 24 months in wooden barrels, with 62 % new barrels.
Blackberry and ripe plum aromas are accompanied by red rose, coffee, toast and vanilla. The palate combines concentrated dark fruit with supple tannins and gentle, well-integrated acidity. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a long, spicy finish.
