Character & origin

The wine in detail

Ask us

Hikari Koshu 2022 from Lumière comes from the estate's own vineyards in Yamanashi. The Koshu ferments in oak and then matures for 20 months in barrel.

Quince and apricot are accompanied by subtle oak notes. Ripe fruit meets gentle acidity and a soft, full-bodied texture. Restrained oak complements the fruit and gives the wine depth.

At the table

Our food pairing

Pan-fried turbot with morels; langoustine risotto with saffron; roasted celeriac with hazelnuts and brown butter

Serving suggestions

Our recommendation: serve at 10–12 °C. With a little time in the glass, fruit and texture become more pronounced.

The winery

Lumière

Lumière has made wine in Yamanashi since 1885. The family-owned winery brings together Koshu, red wines and sparkling wines with an unusual cellar tradition: historic granite fermentation tanks are still used for Ishigura. In its own vineyards, grass cover and close observation of the soil shape everyday work.
