L'Escalier Rouge 2022
An expressive anniversary wine marking the 35th anniversary of Takahata Winery, bringing together Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in a deep, powerful and age-worthy red wine. The label, created especially for this wine by Takashi Hara, reflects the visual language of his “Stairs” series and symbolises the path of the winery: maturing, growing and shaping the future step by step.
This full-bodied red wine shows aromas of cassis, blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by fine notes of vanilla, toast, spice and chocolate from its long maturation in French oak barriques. On the palate, it is concentrated, fruit-intensive and layered, with fine-grained tannins, a dense structure and a long, fleshy finish. Already accessible today, it also has the potential for further ageing. A characterful food companion for pink-roasted saddle of lamb with herb jus, braised beef shoulder with red wine sauce, glazed veal breast and truffle jus.
